Watches from brands such as MVMT, Vincero, Daniel Wellington, and many others are - newsflash - a giant scam.
First let's talk about build quality, Each of these companies ensures great quality for their own product. This however, is not true. They have no influence on the quality of their watches, as they are mass produced in china and branded with their company name after the fact. The front glass crystal is extremely fragile. It is some sort of mineral crystal.
The second source of contention for me is that these brands have no heritage. They were made just to make money, not to improve watch future like their brands would claim. These companies sprung up out of nowhere, which is possible for them because they don't have to manufacture the watches themselves.
I have touched on the truth about the production of these watches a bit, but let's go a little more in depth. Each watch is manufactured and sold to the brands for a mere few dollars at most, often with a large bulk discount. They are bought from mass production factories in china. This immediately nullifies the only positive feature they had going for them - the price.
The last problem I have with these watches is that they are quartz. I know this is quite subjective, but it is how I feel. I much prefer mechanical time pieces over quartz, despite the loss in accuracy.
If you are looking for an entry level mechanical watch, I would check out the brands Seiko and Orient. They both include in house mechanical movements, that are often even less than the price tags of the fashion watches listed above, but offer exponentially more value.
